Please contact me if you have any queries. Yours sincerely, Anna Whelan RESPONSE FROM ORKNEY ISLANDS COUNCIL Orkney Islands Council welcomes the proposal for a Single Equality Bill and the opportunity it presents to rationalise the legislation surrounding equalities, particularly the introduction of a single public sector duty to replace the multiplicity we have at present. This would give local authorities a chance to relaunch the equalities message locally and make it simpler to understand and easier to convey. It would also reduce the bureaucratic load of maintaining multiple equality schemes. Accordingly, we fully endorse COSLA's response to this consultation paper, and will continue to work with them as the detail of the Bill is developed.
